“I am a single mom of 4 children. All 4 of my children are part the karate school. We have had financial struggles which often leads to the stress and worry of how I will pay for my children to train...... Without the help of the tuition I have to stop training for my children because I can not financially afford it at this point in time. My kids are all about karate and taking their journey as far as they can. I would not want the financial struggle to hinder their dreams.”

“I recently separated from my partner and am now a single mother financially responsible for housing and living expenses for myself and my children. I have been unable to work since 2019 due to a chronic health condition, therefore my only source of income is from long term disability insurance. My claim is currently under review due to the length of time of my claim so it is unsure how much longer I will be receiving my claim payments. I am in the appeals process for Social Security Disability and am waiting for their decision. I am currently the sole provider for my three children. My son has shown such a huge increase in his confidence, self control, and endurance. I would love for him to be able to continue training. “

“It will let my children continue to do the thing they love the most. Without it I will no longer be able to let my children train. My kids have never shown this much enthusiasm or interest in anything until karate came into the picture. Now we live at karate. It’s our home away from home and I would not want to take their passion away from my kids.“

The daughter is a very shy young girl, but still comes to help with the ninja sharks classes several times a week and will even demonstrate for them. Raising her hand to volunteer to do things is a struggle for her, but she has opened up so much since beginning her training. Every time she is in class, she gives 100%. Mom has recently fallen on hard times. She faces many health issues which has been preventing her from working. She's been on the verge of being evicted from her home due to financial difficulties. Mom has expressed interest in teaching and has even been to certification, but due to her ongoing health issues (which includes memory problems and seizures) she is unable to remember what she should be doing in front of the class, so instead she comes and helps other times. The students respect and admire her so much for how much help she offers them. These two wonderful people have been such an incredible addition, it would be a hard loss if they could not continue to train with us.”

“I’m a single mom with one income. The last two years have been hard for my daughter and I. Her father stopped sending support and spending time with her. She’s wanted for a while to join a team of some sort but it was always no because no extra income. We were at a Halloween event and we won 2 weeks free. I decided to let her try the first week, I started to see a change. I really want her to continue her training. It’s giving her confidence and new fitness goals. She’s so engaged and actually enjoys it! “

We have known the family for a lot years and because of Covid fell on hard times. He comes into the school takes his class and stays to help with younger kids class. This family is very important to our culture and this scholarship would be a great blessing for the family.
